Rock is booming in Turkish music. Each month, new groups are formed and are about them.
I recently discovered the existence of the Turkish punk and I found an opportunity for me to briefly introduce some punk bands that stand out.
The first punk band I've heard is Rashit and it was during their "second album" official in 2003 , entitled "Ben Adam Olmak Istemiyorum " ("I want to become a man, me").
I was at that time particularly surprised by the sound and the originality of the group. I had never heard of it! And for good reason, Rashi is pure punk and we can say that it is THE punk band from Turkey, the first to be allowed to provide its credentials to the genre.
Indeed, 1999, the band released what is considered the first official album of punk Turkey (until then, the houses and the general public had no interest in punk obviously, not to mention censorship):

Here is the album "Adam Olmak Istemiyorum ," released in 2003 , who introduced me Rashit and thereby the punk a Turk.
I must admit that it was not then my favorite album in any genre, certainly because of side too "new" of the thing.
We must realize that punk albums were not many at that time and that the radios and other Turkish TV channels did not spend that kind of music.
was also the time when I discovered the Turkish rock, more conventional, with artists like Teoman mainly.
short, "Adam Olmak Istemiyorum" is a pure punk album, listen for lovers of nature. In
2004, we may note a small French record company, "Darbuka Records, released an album of Rashi in complete confidentiality. So as an anecdote that I mention. ^ _ ^

2006, new album entitled "Her Seyin Bedell Bir Var (" Everything has a price ") Album of the dedication media. Rashit no longer a group known as purists, but truly became an icon, a showcase of punk with the Turkish media. Suddenly, the TV channels, radio stations go all the group's latest single " Teker Teker " ("one by one").

Today Rashit is a rock band like any other, which has the distinction of claiming a spirit and a punk legacy, even if it no longer feels bound as much as on previous albums by the group : effect of maturity, no doubt!
But the fact remains that when we speak of Turkish punk, "rash" is the first name that comes to mind.
The next generation is already large and serious, I will speak later in the second part of "The Wave Punk rock in Turkish." ;)
soon.
