Cilek, suffering as a credo ...
Cilekes In October 2002
that Cilek (pronounced "
Tchilékesh " and has approximately the meaning of "martyr" or "who revels in the suffering" - sorry could not be more specific than that but the Turkish language has sometimes unfathomable subtleties!) was born from the hands of:
Görkem Karabudak , vocals, Ali Güçlü
guitar, Sedat
Oguzsoy on bass and
Cumhur Avcil to the battery.
They gave their first concert in November 2002 in Ankara
Saklikent , a trendy place in the capital. In
2003, they participate in a talent contest sponsored by the brand Fanta and then earn a berth in the national final, where they distinguished themselves before a prestigious jury, inter alia, Teoman (he was not only reassure you, but it would serve no purpose that I give you other names, they will tell you nothing - and I either: D)
same year and the year following a series of concerts in Ankara will still talk group.
Following this contest, members of Cilek germinate saw in them the desire to work on an album in conjunction with their concerts, and relying on their reputation tiny freshly acquired.
But the highlight will be their series of concerts in 17 cities and approximately 350 to 000 spectators, alongside singers known as Candan Erçetin (a famous Turkish singer, patch very pleasant and has already made an album of covers in French ) or Nev. (one of my favorite artists, Nev., I love it). Cilek acquires almost the reputation of a professional group so they are amateur.
Finally, in March 2005
begins recording their album in MIAM studios. The album, entitled "
YOK ." (NOTHING), then lands ONAIR the producer in June 2005, which will distribute the group.
The words and music are all of the group, but the fact remains that some artists have participated in the album as guest musicians: we can come back and the drummer
Kurban, Burak Gürpinar, or Divine
Aylin Aslim .
Kerem Karabudak (vocals) :
He began piano at age 5 years and it's a little true virtuoso on the violin. He set up the group while still at the conservatory in 2002.
can say it is the natural leader of the group even if he tends to be back on the different pictures of the group.
It has the distinction of having a very soft voice, contrasting completely with the voices found in the traditionally neometal. You could say he has more the tone of voice of a guy who would sing in Sevran Sunday at noon, so he's worth!
Moreover, we must know it is very good friends with another young group of neo-metal music that much cartons: Deja vu
, where he participated in two pieces on the violin (his instrument of choice): Adin Neyde "(" What was your name? ") and" Yeter Artik "(" That's enough now ").
Sedat Oguzsoy (bass) :
He was born in Ankara, but did most of his schooling in Istanbul. It was in college he began playing the bass. Cilek he joined in October 2004.
Güçlü Ali Simsek (guitar) :
He was born in Kadikoy (Asian side of Istanbul) and raised in Bursa (a city of one million people located not very far from Istanbul).
He began playing guitar at the age of 12 and studied French philology at the University (philology is to study a language but a historical perspective). He already knew
Cumhur Avcil, the drummer, in Bursa. It is through him that he became acquainted with Görkem: all three, they got the group Cilek.
Cumhur Avcil (drums): He was born in Bursa. It was in high school for boys he took courses in music and began playing the drums.
During these years he has played in many groups.
Having had a degree in psychology, he left and moved to Bursa Ankara. There, he set up a studio and worked as a technician for a few festivals. There is also a lot of dishes. In November 2002, at the same time that the group is created, he became the drummer Cilek.
Their first album, with a cover that illustrates very well the group name ...
You'll understand the name of the group, Cilek deals with themes of suffering, loneliness, remorse ... In short, if you search the words gay, make your way!
The melodies are commensurate with the words: no concessions, we are here to make you move.
Moreover, the first single was immediately set the tone: "YOK" deals with loneliness, of course, just listen to the chorus:
Elimden Sey Gelmer BIH, BIH Carema yok
Nothing happens in the hands, I no cure Karanlik sokaklarda sesimi duyan yok bu
In these dark streets, nobody hears my voice Elimden Sey Gelmer BIH, BIH Carema yok
Nothing happens in the hands, I no cure Karanlik elimi tutan yok bu sokaklarda
In these dark streets, nobody is there to take my hand
Words that evoke the desperation and loneliness, "YOK" is clearly distinguished from other songs heard on the radio and TV, impossible to miss!
